How It Works

  • WHAT IS IT?

It is the natural and reusable alternative for food storage. Frank Wrap replaces the single use of plastic cling film. It’s all natural, biodegradable and eco-friendly. Welcome to the future of food wrap.

Plastic free
Reusable
Washable
Compostable
Sustainably made
100% eco-friendly certified cotton (with low impact dyes)
Made of beeswax or candelilla wax, pine resin and jojoba oil.

Beeswax and jojoba oil have antibacterial qualities that help to keep your food fresh. Unlike plastic, beeswax is a natural substance. It has antibacterial properties helping keep things clean and reducing risks of contamination. Beeswax is also waterproof, yet still breathable, protecting your food from getting wet or wilted while locking in moisture, flavour and freshness.

    • DOES FRANK WRAP HAVE A SCENT?
Yes. As it is a natural product Frank Wrap does have a mild scent of beeswax. The scent will reduce with time and use. There is no need to worry about the smell transferring to your food, as it doesn’t happen.

    • WHY TO USE BEESWAX or VEGAN FRANK WRAP?
It breathes. It is not airtight. It’s not like traditional plastic wrap or storage containers that make fresh food sweat, it mimics nature’s peel. It looks good, feels good, smells good and fosters a healthier relationship with food.

The beeswax and jojoba oil have antibacterial qualities that help to keep your food fresh and allow you to use the Beeswax Frank Wrap again and again.

Small steps make a huge difference. Do not be daunted by the prospect of going plastic free.

How you shop, transport and store your food is not just about the plastic you might be using, but also about the relationship you have with food, the ultimate source of life.

It lasts for up to a year with proper care and regular usage.

    • HOW TO TAKE CARE OF BEESWAX or VEGAN FRANK WRAP?

Wash your Frank Wrap in cool water with a mild dish soap. Air dry, fold and store in a drawer or in a basket on the counter. You should store them away from heat and direct sunlight. Avoid sources of heat, such as hot water and microwaves.

Personally, I believe there is no need to use dish soap every time. When I wrap vegetables or fruit, I simply wash it with cold water. I also advise to remove dried-on food with water. Avoid the temptation to pick off dried-on food, as it may take some of the wax coat with it. Dark foods may permanently stain or discolour your wrap, like beets, pomegranate or blueberries, so keep this in mind when selecting your fabric colours. An occasional stain does not compromise the efficiency of the wrap in any way.

You'll know your wrap has reached the end of its useful life when it has worn thin and soft and has trouble sticking to itself. At this time, you can cut your wrap into strips and add to your compost pile.

    • WHAT THINGS TO AVOID?
Do not use hot water or strong chemical dishwashing liquid.
Do not submerge or soak your wrap.
It is not suitable for dishwashing, microwave oven, direct heat or high temperature.
Keep away from all source of heat and open flame.
Beeswax Frank Wrap is not suitable for wrapping fresh meat, chicken or fish. However,  these items can be stored in a bowl with Frank Wrap over the top.
Avoid covering a bowl that contains hot food inside. Let it cool down first.

    • YOU SAY FRANK WRAP IS HANDMADE. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Our entire beeswax Frank Wrap is handcrafted and homemade in Malta. The zigzag cutting of the fabric, the stamping of the logo and the application of the melted blend is all done by hand. Yes, it is one by one with lots of love. Once the Frank Wrap is dried it goes through the quality check.

We cut the cotton fabric using a zigzag edge for extra cling before the application of the melted blend. Sometimes you may find a flaw on them. As for the occasional uneven edge, we try our best at Frank Wrap to make every wrap the best it can be, however our products are literally handmade and unique.

      • RESPECTFUL PACKAGING?

Yes, the beautiful Frank Wrap packaging is made of recyclable paper and locally printed. It would not make sense to use plastic and harmful ink on our packaging. You can keep the packaging to store some of your wraps or you can place it with your recyclables.

        • MY FRANK WRAP DOES NOT STICK

Make sure you have warm hands to fold the wrap around the object. Some bowl surfaces are not suitable for beeswax wraps, particularly artificial surfaces. Metal, glass and wood are the best ones. Plastic works too, but not always. However, the wrap always sticks on itself when folded around the object.

Frank Wrap should wrap firmly around fruit and vegetables. If for some reason your wrap really isn’t sticking, please let us know and we will replace it.
